Wang Chieng ward ticket went to Victor Obuya from incumbent Peter Kaula while Sam Lieta won the party ticket for West Karachuonyo against John Njira. It is only MCA Jeff Ongoro who bagged the ticket for Kanyaluo ward.
Gubernatorial election
The provisional results however show that a majority of ODM candidates for parliamentary seats are leading and likely to win. The Homa Bay gubernatorial race between candidates Gladys Wanga and Evans Kidero is neck to neck. “It would be prudent if all the governor aspirants agree by choosing one of them as a candidate. This will avert violence and avoid tainting the party’s image,” Raila said during Homa Bay NGAAF tournament finals in December last year.
Owino said election officials ignored many polling stations in announcing the results. This comes after a hotly-contested election that pit the two vocal leaders against each other, with Wanga rising from the immediate former woman representative to governor. All of the above members of parliament were elected on ODM party tickets led by the former prime minister, The Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga.

Homa Bay County has a total population of 1,131,950 persons, of which 539,560 are males, 592,367 females and 23 intersex persons. It has 262,036 households with an average of 4.3 people per household. The county has a population density of 359 people per square kilometre. Homa Bay County has eight sub counties just like the constituencies. Please note, districts across the state changed after the Michigan Independent Redistrict Commission approved a new set of political district maps.

The results also saw more than half of the incumbent MCAs floored by their competitors for the ODM tickets.
Homa Bay County Assembly has 60 MCAs where 40 are elected while 20 are nominated. MPs Owino and Okuome were subjected to nominations as five others were given direct tickets. Those who got direct tickets are Millie Odhiambo , Peter Kaluma , Eve Obara , Ongondo Were and Lillian Gogo .
As the nomination date draws closer, ODM faces a hard time in picking a candidate for the governorship seat since the popularity of the aspirants is proving to be too close. “My chief agent sustained serious panga injuries when she was attacked. Voting did not take place at many polling centres after some people snatched voting tablets from election officials,” Oyoko said. Oyoko said the results in her ward were announced using a few polling stations after violence scuttled the election in many polling centres. Wanga and Magwanga, have however extended an olive branch to his worthy competitors in the last elections to join hands in building and developing Homa Bay county going forward. Kidero said that in Mfangano, Rusinga, Kabondo, Kasipul and Ndhiwa the figures were changed while in Kochia, unknown people sneaked in a form and forced the returning officer to sign it after taking the original form.
Currently, tallying of votes from polling stations is still going on at constituency tallying centres. Gladys Wanga is the current governor after being elected in the 2022 general elections that took place in August 9. Moses Otieno Kajwang’ is the senator and was elected in 2015 in a by election due to the death of his brother, Gerald Otieno Kajwang.
